28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:28-31)

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life [psuche] will lose it, but whoever loses his life [psuche] for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul [psuche]? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul [psuche]? (Matthew 16:24-26)
We love God our whole being because God has saved us our whole being.
47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” 48 And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” (Luke 7:47-48)
